Veros, Ghoul Barbarian

Veros was a fiend of a man during his lifetime, part of a slave trader's crew, whose job it was to keep the new slaves in line, and dispose of those who didn't. His preferred method of disposing was to eat the captive, in front of the other unfortunate prisoners, both as a warning and because he liked it. The ship was sunk however during combat, it's foe also sinking, in the Aras Reef, not too far from Blackrun Island. He and the ship's cleric, a sadistic man in his own right, quickly set about gathering supplies and 'food' when they got to shore. It was during this time that a rag-tag crew of former slaves and soldiers from the other sunken vessel came across them and engaged in combat. Veros was brutal and swift, but weak from the shipwrecking and overwhelmed by the opposition, eventually struck hard enough to knock him out. During that time, his cleric friend continued to fight, channeling bursts of Negative Energy over the foes, and inadvertantly Veros too, draining his life completely.

The cleric was dispatched and the motley crew moved on, unaware that once midnight came Veros rose again, infused with the negative energy to become an undead beast. His cannibalistic ways fed into this transformation, shifting his form into that of a Ghoul, that which craves the taste of flesh above all other things. He set up a small base of operations in the local graveyard of a nearby village, digging with his unholy strength underground below an unoccupied mausoleum. After only two weeks, his activites were picked up on. Many had sated his hunger, and some had even joined him as Ghouls, but none as powerful as he. Some of the original rag-tag crew, now forming a slightly more official one to man a new ship, along with other soldiers they'd hired, managed to find his hiding spot and assault him before he knew what was going on. In short order, after a far more ferocious fight than the first and more deadly blows by his hand, he finally faltered once more. This time, the crew removed his head, just to make sure he would not return, but his mark had already been made in the tainted soil of the graveyard...

TL;DR, Veros is a scary man who became a ghoul.

He was the foe in a recent Pathfinder game I ran in my ongoing campaign. I did this pic a while back but wanted to save posting it until he'd been encountered in-game. He was killed, but at the time I didn't know if he'd make it out 'alive' to harrass the party in the future or not.

I've become a rather big fan of this artstyle having now done it several times. Comments on it are always appreciated! ^_^
